6 easy D.I.Y. steps to an instant greener world

1. Site Preparations

All site preparations should be made before turf arrives.

Remove all stone material from planting area.

The area should be totally free from weeds and weed seeds.

Rake soil level to desired grades.

2. Consolidation

Water the prepared area to achieve the desired consolidation.

A firm moist soil bed helps achieve a rapid establishment.

Apply Wetting agents such as Grosorb Granulated Soil Wetter, or Wetta Soil to assist with water penetration.

3. Fertiliser

Prior to laying, apply a lawn starter fertiliser such as Bailey’s Nulawn at the rate of 50 to 70 grams (one handful) per square metre.

Rake soil to incorporate fertiliser into the surface and water in to prevent possible root damage.

4. Laying Your Instant Lawn

Turf is delivered in rolled strips 2.5 metres X 400mm and approximately 20mm thick. Each roll covers one square metre.

Lay the longest single run first and do any edging, tamping, etc, progressively. Commence watering as soon as sufficient turf has been laid.

Use full rolls next to concrete paths where possible. Lay turf in a brickwork type pattern.

Firmly butt rolls together by pushing - do not stretch rolls. It is recommended that lawn is laid as soon as possible after being delivered.

5. Watering

During the vital first 3-4 days, turf should never be allowed to dry out, as it cannot utilise soil moisture until new roots develop.

After the first week, watering should be progressively reduced to encourage deep rooting.

Once established, a Carabooda lawn will only require one or two heavy waterings per week depending on temperature and soil conditions.

6. Mowing
Prior to laying, apply a lawn starter fertiliser such as Bailey’s Nulawn at the rate of 50 to 70 grams (one handful) per square metre.

Rake soil to incorporate fertiliser into the surface and water in to prevent possible root damage.
